The Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) programme prepares participants for the professional certification examination offered by the Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists (ACAMS). It strengthens their knowledge and skills in combating money laundering and terrorist financing and managing the associated risks, drawing on international standards and practices. The programme explores money laundering and terrorist financing methods and red flags across financial and non-financial institutions, alongside key international frameworks, including the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) Recommendations. It also covers the core elements of an effective anti-money laundering programme: risk assessment, customer due diligence and enhanced due diligence, transaction monitoring, suspicious activity reporting and sanctions compliance. Governance, internal controls, staff training and independent audit are addressed as essential components of programme effectiveness. Participants also examine the fundamentals of conducting and supporting investigations, maintaining records, safeguarding confidential information and cooperating with relevant authorities. By addressing these topics in professional contexts, the programme helps participants connect knowledge with workplace responsibilities, strengthen their ability to identify and assess risks and determine appropriate responses, and contribute to effective compliance programmes while building their readiness for the CAMS examination.
