The International Introduction to Securities and Investment (CME-1A) is a mandatory professional examination accredited by the Capital Market Authority (CMA) and delivered in partnership with the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI). It serves as a key prerequisite for professional registration for individuals seeking to practice securities activities across most roles regulated by the CMA. The examination is based on a comprehensive international curriculum consisting of ten chapters, designed to progressively build knowledge from the ground up. It covers the financial services environment, as well as the principles of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG). It also includes an in-depth study of key investment instruments and specialist financial products, alongside regulatory frameworks, professional ethics, financial crime prevention, and the legal foundations of sound financial advisory practice. Passing this exam, together with the Saudi Capital Market Rules and Regulations (General Chapter) (CME-1B), is a mandatory requirement for obtaining the Certificate in Introduction to Securities and Investment (CME 1). This certification also qualifies its holder to invest in the Parallel Market (Nomu), in accordance with CMA requirements.
